John James Seeks Oakland, Macomb County House Seat
The seat is expected to be competitive, considering former President Trump won the area in the 2020 election over Joe Biden.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Two-time Republican senate candidate John James will run for an open U.S. House seat in metro Detroit that includes portions of Oakland and Macomb counties, he said Monday.
"Our community needs a congressman who is grounded in real life — a leader who will defend our freedom, ensure good-paying jobs are available at home and offer to extend a helping hand to our neighbors in need," James said in a statement.
The Michigan businessman will run for the newly created 10th district, which includes Rochester Hills, Shelby Township, Sterling Heights, Clinton Township and part of St. Clair Shores. The seat is expected to be competitive, considering former President Trump won the area in the 2020 election over Joe Biden.

Much of the area is currently represented by Democrats Andy Levin and Haley Stevens, but Michigan's newly drawn districts will likely put the two against each other for another Oakland County district seat. Both representatives have announced primaries for the newly created 11th district, which includes Royal Oak, Farmington Hills and Pontiac.
The 40-year-old West Point graduate was twice defeated by Democratic senators, including narrowly to Gary Peters in 2020 by about 1.7 percentage points.
