Jump into Hockey Season by Meeting the Spartans or Having Your Daughter Try Hockey for Free
Onyx-Rochester Ice Arena to host open practice by Michigan State hockey team and free clinic for girls only Saturday.

Now that the weather has changed and baseball season is officially over, it’s time to immerse yourself in hockey season. This Saturday, Oct. 11, the Onyx-Rochester Ice Arena (located at 52999 Dequindre, Rochester) will have two great free events for hockey fans that love to watch the game, as well as those who want to start playing it.
Starting at 1 p.m., the rink will welcome the Michigan State Spartans Hockey Team to for a free “Meet the Spartans” event! From 1= the Spartans will take to the Onyx ice for an Open Practice led by the MSU Coaching staff. This is a great opportunity to observe some behind-the-scenes insight as these college athletes prepare for their 2014-15 season opener.
From 2:15pm – 2:50pm, join the Michigan State hockey team on the ice for a “Meet & Greet” where you can take pictures and get autographs from the players and coaches. Don’t miss this chance to get up close and personal with your favorite collegiate team at your hometown ice arena! (Posters will be provided and the fans will be able to walk on the ice surface, no skates allowed.)

Also happening on Saturday afternoon, the Onyx celebrates World Girls’ Hockey Weekend with a *Girls Only* Try Hockey for FREE Clinic from 1:45pm-2:35pm. We invite parents to bring their daughter, niece or neighbor (ages 12 & under) out to the rink to have a blast learning a brand-new sport and to see that hockey is NOT just for the boys!
Participants will be provided all the necessary hockey equipment for the event. In addition, on-ice instructors will be present to teach kids how to get dressed, stand on skates, hold a stick and skate around.
