Kevin Brown Committed to Continuing His Work for Rochester Hills City Council

As a 16-year resident of Rochester Hills, Kevin Brown is committed to serving the community he chose to call home and to raise his family. Brown is seeking re-election to his position as Rochester Hills City
Council Member – At Large this November.

"Councilman Kevin Brown has been an integral part of our leadership team in Rochester Hills," said Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. "His vision and experience are part of the reason we have so much to celebrate here in Rochester Hills."

Brown started serving his country in 1993, when as an engineering student at Michigan State University, he entered the Navy’s Nuclear Power Officer Candidate program. Brown received his commission in October of 1995 and upon successful completion of the nuclear power training program and Submarine Officer Basic Course he reported to the USS Connecticut (SSN 22).

During his 5-year career, he served in various roles as a Division Officer, completed a 6-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea onboard the USS Toledo (SSN 769), advanced to the rank of Lieutenant and earned his full submarine warfare and engineering officer qualifications.

Brown became active in Rochester Hills government almost 6 years ago when he signed up to be an election poll worker, an activity he continues to support even while on the council.

“I was inspired by all the citizens that came into the polling station and took time away from their busy lives to exercise their right to vote and ensure their voices were heard,” said Kevin. “It was after the 2012
presidential election that I decided it was time for me to enter public service.”

Over the last four years Kevin Brown has had the opportunity to serve on various boards & committees including 2 years on the Older Person’s Commission and the Rochester Area Youth Assistance and is currently on the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Rochester Sister City, Liquor License Technical Review, Water and Sewer Review, Human Resources Review and Strategic Planning and Policy Review.

Brown has been impressed with the professionalism and leadership Mayor Barnett, the city staff and the members of council have shown over the last four years, citing Top 10 Cities to Live, Safest City in Michigan
and various department awards during his time on council. “We are blessed to have such a wonderful community and I am honored to have been a part of it” said Brown. “I hope to continue the great work we have started.”

Kevin Brown is committed to the continued safety, protection of personal property rights and the further development of Rochester Hills. Brown is looking forward to the completion of the Fire Station renovations and the development of Riverbend Park.
