Here are the top stories today in Rochester-Rochester Hills:

1. James and Jennifer Crumbley filed an appeal in the Michigan Court of Appeals late Monday after an Oakland County judge refused to squash charges against them. The couple also asked the court to overrule the judge and block all evidence of their son's state of mind before the shooting, including his journal and texts if the trial proceeds. 2. Even though recent interest rate hikes by federal officials has cooled the housing market, people in Oakland County are still finding it harder to buy a house now than at any point in the last 15 years after home prices spiked over the past year, according to a recently released home affordability report. 3. An Oakland County woman bought a scratch-off ticket in Lake Orion and scratched off a ticket worth $300,000. (Oakland Township Patch)
