Letter to the Editor: Truth or Consequences in Mayoral Election
In his letter to the editor, Mike Powers asks questions about the upcoming Rochester Hills mayoral election on Nov. 3.

(Editor’s Note: The opinions in the letter below are those of the author.)
There is no Rochester Hills vision for the future — only a series of moves that have produced a certain result and those moves may not have been planned to produce those results.
With Mayor Bryan Barnett we see the fundamental absence of strategic thinking. Intelligent organizations attempt to give a rationality and consistency which Mayor Barnett does not have. Mayor Barnett is a man with a strong will and a high capacity to get himself elected — but no great conception of what he is going to do when he gets into office.
Mayor Barnett is counting on two things: 1.) A most-signs-wins strategy that instruct the reader to write him in and keep a good thing going; 2.) An apathetic, too trusting electorate.
For those of us who pay attention, denying residents a vote on parkland use for oil drilling is just another lie equal to the lies he spreads about Ravi Yalamanchi’s record.
