Local biz competes for grant.

Salon Elan, a Rochester Hills salon, has been accepted in the FEDEX Small Business Big Grant contest. Participants must pass a three step process to be considered in winning one of ten grants totaling $50,000. Once the application is approved, the community is encouraged to cast daily votes via the FEDEX website or Facebook. If chosen for the top 100, Salon Elan will submit an essay on one of four topics. If any grant is won, the owners of Salon Elan, Jeffrey and Jennifer Malinowksi, intent to create "micro grants" that will provide start up money to salon professionals that wish to start their own salon business within Salon Elan's walls.
