A Macomb County man ran out of a Meijer in shock after finding out he won $4 million on a Michigan scratch-off ticket, officials said.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A Macomb County man ran out of a Meijer in shock after finding out he won $4 million on a Michigan scratch-off ticket, according to the Michigan Lottery.
The lucky 42-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, said he likes to play $20 and $30 scratch-off tickets. When he walked into the Meijer store at 100 Pigeon Road in Bad Axe, which is about 50 miles northeast of Bay City, he saw two Diamond 7s tickets on the counter.
He bought $30 tickets and had the clerk scan them after he scratched the barcodes.

"When one of them gave a message to file a claim, I started scratching it off at the counter with the clerk," he told the Michigan Lottery. "As soon as I scratched the winning symbol and saw ‘4MIL’ underneath, I grabbed the ticket and ran out of the store. I was in complete shock!"
The man chose to receive the prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $2.5 million instead of 30 annuity payments for the full amount.
