Meijer Sells Bad Gas, Urges Customers to Call to Have Vehicles Checked, Repaired

Diesel fuel mixed with regular fuel in underground tanks over Labor Day weekend.

Meijer stores said Wednesday that about 850 customers may have purchased contaminated fuel at the Auburn Hills store on Brown Road on Monday or Tuesday of this week.

It’s unclear whether the fuel will damage vehicles, Meijer spokesman Frank Guglielmi said, according to the Detroit Free Press. Meijer said its fuel supplier inadvertently mixed diesel and regular and mid-grade unleaded fuel in underground tanks.

Customers who bought gas from 1 a.m. Monday and 2 p.m. Tuesday at the pumps should call the company at (800) 543-3704 so vehicles can be checked out and repaired.
