MI Voters Agree With Charging Oxford Parents In Shooting: Report

OXFORD, MI — A new WDIV/Detroit News survey found that a majority of Michigan voters agree with the decision to charge the parents of accused Oxford school shooter Ethan Crumbley.

The poll found that 74.4 percent agree with the decision, while 8.9 percent disagree and 16.7 percent were undecided, according to the report. The numbers were even stronger in metro Detroit with 82.3 percent supporting the charges and only 7 percent opposing.

James and Jennifer Crumbley were each charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter after authorities say their son opened fire at Oxford High School, killing four students and wounding seven other people.

They are each being held in an Oakland County jail on with a $500,000 bond. They were recently denied a reduced bond and will next appear in court on Feb. 8 for a probable cause conference.

Their son, Ethan Crumbley, was charged with 24 counts in connection to the Oxford shooting, including four counts of premeditated murder and terrorism. He waived his preliminary exam hearing and will be sent straight to trial.
