Family Seeks Tips About Rochester College Grad Missing in NYC

Flight attendant Sierra Shields hasn't been seen since she left LaGuardia Airport on foot on Jan. 14.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – Family members are searching for a Rochester College graduate last seen Jan. 14 when she left New York’s LaGuardia Airport on foot after finishing a shift as a flight attendant.

Sierra Shields, 30, is employed by Republic Airways, which provides staff for Delta and United airlines. She is based in New York City. She disappeared about noon after she left her job.

Shields grew up in Richton Park, IL, and studied for the ministry, business and integrative studies while at Rochester College from 2005-2009.

Chris Shields, her brother, a campus minister at the Rochester Hills school, told The Detroit News family members “really don’t know” what happened to his sister, but she “seemed different” when an older sister talked to her on Jan. 14.

“She wasn’t herself,” Chris Shields said.

The older sister flew to New York to check on Sierra, but didn’t find her.

Two Facebook pages — Find Sierra Shields and Find Sierra — have been established to receive tips. Tips may also be left by voice or text at (313) 347-3329.

The New York Police Department described the missing woman in a press release as 5-foot, 7 inches tall, 160 pounds with a medium build; medium complexion, back hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a navy blue dress when last seen.
