Missing Rochester Hills Boy, 8, Found Moments After Alert

The child, who failed to return home from school Friday, was spotted moments after school sent email and social media alerts.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – A Rochester Hills third-grader who failed to go home after school Friday was discovered walking in the area of Tienken and Livernois roads moments after school officials sent out email and Facebook alerts reporting him missing, authorities said.

Oakland County sheriff’s deputies were unable to locate the boy, 8, in the area of the 200 block of W. Hamlin Road, where he was last seen by a school crossing guard after school dismissed Friday, according to a news release.

School personnel, neighbors and friends of the missing boy’s family assisted in the search.

Within minutes of the alert, citizens began calling with reports of sightings of the child walking in the area of Tienke and Livernois, the sheriff’s office said. A pharmacy technician at the Walgreen’s store located at Tienken and N. Rochester roads spotted noticed the child outside of the store, brought him inside and called 911.

The boy has been reunited with his parents and Children’s Protective Services was notified of the incident, according to the statement.
