Ms. Esthetician Makes a Move in Rochester
We first told you about the popular downtown waxing expert back in March; read all about her new location.
A few months ago I told you about Tiffany Taylor and her passion for waxing.
Since then Taylor has moved to a new location at 309 S Main St., upstairs from .
"This new location fulfills a lifetime dream of owning my own space." Taylor said.

The larger space, nearly 600 square feet, allows Taylor to carry more products, including Solice, an SPF body and hand wash. That's right, you step out of the shower with SPF protection.
Taylor said she is the first one to offer this product in Michigan.

"There are so many great things on the market, I want to be able to offer them to people," Taylor said.
The suite was gutted, rebuilt and decorated — all in pink.
"It's so relaxing," Taylor said. "Every time I come in it makes me smile."
Here's a reposting of the original column — appropriate for the middle of swimsuit season:
Passionate about waxing it
This summer, whether you're rocking the bikini or sporting the Speedo, downtown Rochester's and owner Taylor are ready to help you look your best.
Taylor is a woman whose own business card proclaims that she is "passionate about waxing it."
"I do love what I do," Taylor said. "It's the immediate gratification, the instant result of making people happy. They come in unhappy about their body hair, and I give them a safe, comfortable and fun environment to get waxed and be happy."
Wait: did she really put the words "waxed" and "fun" together in the same sentence?
Fun is exactly what Taylor wants the waxing experience to be. And with a large, loyal customer base of women and men that come from as far as Canada and Ohio for Taylor's services, she must be delivering on that desire.
Experience plus product
Taylor has been providing waxing and other esthetician services to the Rochester area since 2004. A licensed, Aveda-trained esthetician, Taylor knows what it takes to provide a good wax. She starts with an Italian wax that is available only to licensed professionals.
"It's a cream wax, making it smoother, and it was designed specifically for body waxing, so it leaves very little residue behind," Taylor said. She also stresses that there should never be any "double-dipping" with wax, meaning wax shared between clients.
Taylor's services include everything from brows ($17) and upper lip ($11) to toes ($15) andeverything in between (full female body wax is $735 and full male body wax is $860). And if you're thinking "bikini," the traditional wax is $45, the French wax is $70 and the Brazilian is $80.
Wax and a lunch date
Taylor also uses techniques to ensure a good wax — and a comfortable one.
"A lot of my clients have their husband drive them. They come in for the wax while their husband waits in the car. Then 15 or 20 minutes later they're back in the car and the two of them go out for a lunch date," Taylor said.
And while Taylor does everything she can to make the experience pleasant, she does not hesitate to tell you that it will hurt. "That's a lie if they say it's pain-free."
Certain techniques can help, like pulling the skin taut, but the reality is your hair is being pulled out by the root. The good news: you won't see it back for a month.
And just so you know (because I had to ask) once the wax is on, there is only one way to get it off and it's not with soap and water!
If you are new to waxing, here are a few other things to know:
- Know your health history. Diabetes, varicose veins and certain skin conditions should exclude a person from waxing.
- You need two to three weeks of hair growth for waxing.
- Clean skin is required.
Ms. Esthetician is located at 309 S. Main St., Suite 250. The location is above Legends of Time and can be reached by the back alley. To schedule an appointment, call 248-413-7333.
