Registration takes place from 9-10 a.m. The plunge begins at 10 a.m. in an icy
pool in front of Rochester Mills Beer Company. The After Splash Bash party
starts immediately following the last plunger. The Oakland County Polar Plunge
is one of 25 plunges taking place throughout Michigan in January, February
and March 2017.
The Polar Plunge series is known for its zany costumes and courageous
participants. After raising funds, these participants dress up in costume and
prepare to plunge, ready to jump in and freeze their fur for a good cause. Funds
can be raised by collecting pledges from friends, family, co-workers and
neighbors.
Online registration is now open at PlungeMI.com. Once registered, you can set
up an online pledge page and receive pledge donations for Special Olympics
Michigan and keep track of money raised.
Proceeds from these plunges help support year-round sports training and
athletic competition for more than 23,000 children and adults with intellectual
disabilities in Michigan. In 2016, the brave Polar Plunge participants in
Michigan raised more than a million dollars for Special Olympics Michigan
athletes.
