Oakland County Sheriff's Detective Hits, Kills Man Crossing Road: Cops
A Pontiac man was killed after he was hit by a pickup truck driven by an Oakland County Sheriff's Office detective, officials said.
PONTIAC, MI — A Pontiac man was killed Wednesday night after he was hit by a pickup truck driven by an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office detective, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Dwayne McFarland, 58, was crossing Walton Boulevard near Circle Drive in a non-crosswalk area in Pontiac at 9:20 p.m. when he was hit by a county-owned 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, officials said.
McFarland was killed in the crash, officials said. An autopsy was planned by the Oakland County Medical Examiner.

The detective was on his way home from work at the time of the crash, officials said.
Police do not know if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
