Oakland County Woman, Dog Die In Accidental House Fire: Sheriff

PONTIAC, MI — A Pontiac woman died in an accidental house fire Sunday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Firefighters found 37-year-old Lakeisha Arnae Moton dead inside her single-story home on the 600 block of Raskob, near Joslyn Avenue just after 1 p.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff's office.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Moton died as a result of smoke inhalation. Investigators ruled her death accidental.

A dog that was in a kennel inside the home also died in the fire, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen. They also found the interior of the home covered with a fresh layer of soot, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials were called to the home after an acquaintance tried calling Moton and became concerned when she didn't respond, according to the sheriff's office.
