Masked Men Try To Rob Rochester Hills College Student At Her Dorm: Police

Police said a group of men approached the student as she was walking back to her dorm room early Wednesday morning.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Oakland University Police are investigating an attempted robbery that happened early Wednesday morning at a campus dorm room.

The robbery happened at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning on the second floor at Oak View Hall, near Walton Boulevard and Squirrel Road in Rochester Hills, according to police.

Police said five men wearing ski masks approached a student as she was walking back to her dorm room.

The men asked if she "wanted some company" and asked if she had a roommate, according to police.

They then asked if they could take her car for a ride, according to police.

One of the masked men tried to take her car keys from her hand, and a struggled ensued as she yelled for help, according to police.

That's when her roommate opened the door to their room, causing all five suspects to run away, according to police.

Police said the men were all roughly 6-feet tall and were all wearing dark jackets and ski masks.

No other description was provided.
