Register for the May 12 Hometown Hustle 5K, then tell us about it for a chance to win a $100 downtown Rochester gift certificate.

The season of 5K events kicks off May 12 in Rochester with the seventh annual . The fun run and walk raises funds for the Foundation, which supports academics, arts and athletic programs in the schools.

Are you planning to participate? To reward those who have registered for the race, Rochester Patch and the Rochester Community Schools Foundation are giving away a $100 Downtown Rochester gift certificate.

Because after a run around Rochester, what better way to spend the afternoon than dining and shopping downtown?

All you have to do is post a comment letting us know you have registered for the event — and telling us why you're looking forward to it. We'll select one winner at random for the prize. All comments must be posted by noon Thursday to qualify for the contest.

  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia who are 18 and older.
  • To enter, post a comment on this story letting us know you've registered for the Hometown Hustle and telling us why you're looking forward to the race.
  • All entries must be received by noon Thursday, May 3.
  • You may enter once.
  • One winner will be selected in a random drawing to win a $100 gift certificate that can be used at any Downtown Rochester merchant or restaurant.
  • Patch will contact the winner via email; the winner will have 24 hours to reply. After 24 hours, an alternate winner will be chosen.
