Reports Of Armed Student Sent Stoney Creek HS Into Lockdown: Sheriff

Police searched the school during the lockdown and did not find a gun or any credible threats, officials said.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Students at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills were evacuated Tuesday morning after a student told a school official that another student had a gun in the school, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.

Furthermore, another student claimed to have heard a gunshot in the building, sending the school into lockdown as heavily armed officers entered the building, officials said.

Officers did not find a gun or any creditable threats during the lockdown, officials said. In addition, police believe the two students made up the claims.

"We take every threat seriously and fully investigate them," Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "Nothing has been located that was a credible concern. Contrary to a false media report, no body was found, and no one was injured."

Stoney Creek High School went into lockdown at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday morning after the alarm sounded inside the school, officials said. The alarm also sent Hart Middle School, Hugger and North Hill Elementary schools into lockdowns Tuesday morning.

The district said that social-emotional wellness teams would be available at Stoney Creek High School to provide support. Families were encouraged to check their email for additional information and resources.
