Rochester Community Schools Appoints New Board Member
The Board of Education appointed Jayson Blake to fill the seat former member Kristin Bull left in August.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A new board member joined the Rochester Community Schools District.
The Board of Education appointed Jayson Blake to fill the seat former member Kristin Bull left in August. Blake’s service began immediately following the oath of office. His term for this volunteer position continues through Dec. 31, 2024.
"Rochester is a phenomenal district with so much to offer," Blake said. "I look forward to helping bring RCS to the next level, so that we can continue to meet the needs of every learner, now and for years to come."

Board members cited Blake’s calmness, empathy, humility and passion for education, along with his experience as an attorney in their selection. The board also mentioned Blake’s ability to overcome adversity and become highly successful, notwithstanding having grown up in an underserved community.
"I think that’s inspiring for our students," Board Secretary Jessica Gupta said.

The board interviewed six candidates for the vacant seat. After the meeting, board members took the opportunity to thank the applicants for their interest in public service and willingness to dedicate their time and talents for the good of the school district.
"I appreciated seeing some new faces," Board President Michell Bueltel said. "Everyone was focused on the kids and what is best for the students and families in this district."
