Rochester Garden Club Awards Annual College Scholarship
Annual College Scholarship is given to student from Rochester Community Schools

The Rochester Garden Club actively encourages environmental education and awards annual college scholarships to promising students from the Rochester Community Schools in support of that goal. We are pleased to announce the recipient of our annual college scholarship, Therese Costantini, a graduating senior from Rochester Adams High School. Therese was an outstanding candidate. She has grown up with a love of nature thanks in large part to the gardening interests of her mother. One of Therese’s fond childhood memories is being in her mother’s garden, and petting bumblebees! (She was wise enough to use the back of her fingernail). Therese also is fervent about protecting the environment and is seeking a career path dedicated to increasing awareness of environmental issues, and protecting the Earth from destructive human tendencies. She hopes to earn a degree in environmental engineering and work in the alternative energy field. Therese attributes much of her passion for science and the environment to her AP Biology teacher, Mr. Wieten, who taught her how science can be used in the real world and advised her about the types of jobs in which she could apply scientific skills.
Our goal is to support Therese and the recipients from the prior three years throughout their undergraduate career with an annual award of $1500 each. Funds for these scholarships and other community services performed by the Rochester Garden Club are raised at the Annual Greens Market, a holiday destination for hundreds of area shoppers seeking beautiful, affordable handmade gifts and holiday arrangements. Rochester Community Schools graciously provides the Harrison Room at the school administration building as the venue for our Greens Market. Visit www.RochesterGardenClub.org for details.
