Rochester Hills Event Helps Local Families Facing Cancer
Event will raise money to help reduce financial burden of crippling disease

Several Oakland County businesses are coming together Saturday, August 10 from 12 - 4:00 p.m. at The Village of Rochester Hills to help families facing cancer during an inaugural beauty and fitness wellness fair presented by The Woodhouse Day Spa of Rochester Hills.
The first-ever Color of Wellness community event benefits New Day Foundation for Families, a nonprofit in Rochester Hills dedicated to reducing the financial burden and stress caused by cancer. New Day offers financial grants in the form of short-term bill payment services as well as emotional support programs for families as they face the burdens that accompany the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
The event is important because a recent study published in The American Journal of Medicine discovered that cancer forces more than 42 percent of patients to lose life savings in just two years while 62 percent of cancer patients report being in debt due to their treatment. According to New Day Foundation's website, 76% of all New Day families needed help to stay in their home.

“This event is really important because cancer is a debilitating disease physically and the financial consequences can be devastating,” said Woodhouse Day Spa owner Anju Brodbine. “Our goal is to create a fun event that families can participate in while creating more awareness for this wonderful foundation that helps so many local families.”
