Rochester Hills Resident Receives 2017 Civic & Humanitarian Award

Willie Brooks receives the Arab American & Chaldean Council's Community Service Award

Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) is proud to announce that its Executive Director and CEO, Willie Brooks, received the Arab American & Chaldean Council’s (ACC) Community Service Award at the 38th Annual Civic & Humanitarian Awards Gala on Friday, October 27, 2017.

This distinguished honor celebrates the achievement of local leaders who have made an impact on the community. Brooks was recognized for his community service and leadership of Oakland County’s public mental health system.

Brooks’ extensive expertise in both healthcare and finance serve as the foundation for his important role as Executive Director and CEO of OCHN. Under his guidance, OCHN identifies, influences, and delivers services to more than 25,800 Oakland County residents. These individuals include those who have an intellectual/developmental disability, adults with a mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbance, and persons with substance use disorders.

In addition to overseeing OCHN’s administrative staff of approximately 170 people, Brooks also acts as the chief liaison between the organization’s service provider agencies, Board of Directors, people receiving services, community partners, and state legislators. He works closely with each of them to ensure that their concerns are addressed, solutions are initiated, and that Oakland County citizens in need of mental health assistance receive quality services that promote independence, inclusion, and equality.

Brooks, a Rochester Hills resident, is well respected among his peers for his detailed knowledge of investing, banking, and monetary policies; healthcare economics, and interpersonal skills involving relationships with people receiving services. His unique and diverse skills are valuable assets not only to OCHN’s network, but also to students at Walsh College where he serves as an adjunct professor.

Brooks’ longstanding commitment to his family, community, and those in need of help, continue to provide the framework that promotes his credibility and admiration as an exemplary leader.

Oakland Community Health Network is the public mental health system responsible for identifying, influencing, and delivering services and supports to approximately 25,800 Oakland County residents, including individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, adults with mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbance, and persons with substance use disorders.
