1 Dead As Shooters Crash Stolen Cars In Rochester Hills Area: Cops

Update: The Oakland County Sheriff's Office has now lifted the shelter-in-place after a witness told officials the two individuals marching the description of the suspects got into a vehicle that pulled up and fled hours ago.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Classes at Oakland University were delayed Monday morning after police told residents in the area to shelter in place as they look for multiple shooters who stole vehicles in Genesee County, police said. At least one person was killed after one of the stolen vehicles crashed on I-75, according to police.

The manhunt is in connection to a police chase from Grand Blanc Township, where multiple people stole numerous vehicles and fired shots near an auto dealership in Genesee County, police said.

One suspect then crashed one of the stolen vehicles on southbound Interstate 75 near Joslyn Road in Auburn Hills at 5:45 a.m. roughly 25 miles from the dealership where they were stolen from, police said. Police did not how many people were injured in the crash, but did say someone was killed.

The other stolen vehicle was then left in the Oakland University's campus parking lot and the suspects ran away on foot, police said.

Officers were searching for the two possible armed car thieves near Adams Road and Walton Boulevard, and now believe they are around Meadow Brook Amphitheatre, police said.

Classes at Oakland University were expected to start at 10 a.m.
