ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A playground at a popular Rochester Hills park added 12 new items for children.

Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett unveiled the playground's expansion at Innovation Hills on Wednesday, June 7.

The new items include a We-Go-Round that promotes fun and interaction by having riders face each other (it is also fully wheelchair accessible), the new Cozy Cocoons, which allows children who need a cozy space to escape when overstimulated and a dedicated music area that creates hands-on music making experiences for children to learn and explore their creativity.

"This addition to the playground only further enhances the vibrancy of Innovation Hills and reflects our commitment to fostering a community that brings people of all ages and ability levels together," Barnett said. "This park has become a place where imaginations soar and memories are made by so many families, and much of this wouldn’t be possible without the support of some outstanding donors, organizations and the State of Michigan."

A $300,000 grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) was instrumental in adding to the new playground, along with donations from the Modetz and Moceri families and Rochester Tuesday Musicale.
