Rochester Hills Wins Procurement Award for 12th Year

For the 12th consecutive year, the city of Rochester Hills has been awarded the prestigious 20th Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award (AEP) for 2015 from the National Procurement Institute (NPI).

The AEP Award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that obtain a high application score based on the program’s standardized criteria. The criteria is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes in the procurement function.

This year, the City of Rochester Hills is one of only two agencies in Michigan and one of only 65 cities in the United States and Canada to receive the award. Receiving this award over multiple consecutive years demonstrates the high standards the city maintains.

The award is open to all levels of government and all sizes of organizations. Rochester Hills’ utilization of the MITN e-procurement site with approximately 140 other agencies, and their lead role in cooperative purchasing initiatives are just a few of the reasons their team is recognized as being one of the best in the country.

“This award attests to the continual record of excellence our team strives to bring,” Mayor Bryan K. Barnett said in a statement. “We are so proud of our Purchasing Department and the innovative methods they continue to bring to procurement.”

In addition to NPI, the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award is sponsored by the California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO), Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials (FAPPO), the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement, the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO), the National Association of Educational Procurement (NAEP), and the Texas Public Purchasing Association (TxPPA). The Canadian Public Procurement Council/Conseil canadien des marchés publics will join the program in 2015, its 20th year.
