Rochester Hopes to Add More $250K-$350K Houses

Among the options under consideration are incentives to attract developers.

ROCHESTER, MI – Increasing housing options in the $250,000 to $350,000 range will be among the priorities this year for city officials in Rochester.

“We can’t be everything to everybody, but we will continue to offer various housing options,” new Rochester Mayor Cathy Daldin, appointed to the top elected position last year, said in her State of the City address Monday.

Developer incentives are among the development tools city officials are considering to attract developers. The city has housing in that price range, but it’s occupied for the most part and “no one is leaving,” said Nik Banda, deputy city manager.

Increasing the city’s affordable housing stock is on the Rochester Planning Commission’s agenda in April.
