Rochester Merchants Extend Hours on Small Business Saturday

Special events take place during the sixth annual Small Business Saturday event in downtown Rochester.

Downtown Rochester merchants will participate in Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28 to kick off the holiday shopping season at locally owned small businesses.

The Rochester Downtown Development Authority has joined more than 400 advocacy organizations that encourage residents to spend their holiday dollars in their local downtowns.

Now in its sixth year, Small Business Saturday is sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, shopping events that focus more on national and big-box retailers and online businesses. Last year, more than 3,000 Small Business Saturday events were scheduled around the country.
