Rochester School Board Member Retires, Leaves Open Seat

Rochester School Board Trustee Trustee Pat Piskulich is retiring and the district is looking to fill this position by the end of April.

ROCHESTER, MI — The Rochester Community Schools Board of Education is looking for someone to fill an open seat after the resignation of one of its trustees. Trustee John (Pat) Piskulich has retired from the post after serving on the board since 2011, the board announced Wednesday.

“The Rochester Community School District is grateful for Pat’s dedication, support, and leadership,” said Supt. Robert Shaner. “He has truly made a difference in our community.”

Piskulich is an associate professor at Oakland University and serves as the Director of the Master of Public Administration program and the Public Affairs Research laboratory. He’s been a resident of Rochester for more than 25 years.

Now, the seven-person board is down a trustee and looking to round out its team. The RCS Board will accept applications until noon on April 13 for the term that begins immediately and ends Dec. 31, 2018. Interested candidates should submit the application and their resume to be considered, either in person or online.

Board members work along with the superintendent on things like district policy and goals, facility needs and budget. Here’s a look at the timeline for filling the position:

· April 13, Friday, 12:00 p.m., Deadline for receipt of applications
· April 24, Tuesday, 6-6:30 p.m., Open house to meet the candidates
· April 24, Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., Candidate interviews with Board
· April 30, Monday, 7:00 p.m., Special Meeting (if necessary)
