Rochester University has selected Steve Moore, formerly with the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, as its new vice president of development and alumni relations.

Moore will lead the university’s development efforts as it raises funds for important capital projects, increases awareness about its mission and future, and as it connects with alumni and friends from around the nation.

“Steve has an exemplary record in development, fundraising and planned giving,” said Dr. Brian Stogner, RU president. “His expertise and connections will benefit RU as we continue to prepare students for professional and personal success. We look forward to the leadership and energy he will bring to our campus.”

Moore comes to RU after serving for six years as the director of philanthropy and major gifts at the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University. In that position, Moore led the team that raised over $64 million during the university-wide $750 million Pivotal Moments campaign, including a $40 million naming gift from Mike and Marian Ilitch. Moore also helped secure funding for a new student success center and an entrepreneurship learning laboratory within the business school. Moore previously served as the associate director of planned giving at the university.

Moore has a strong background in banking and finance, holding executive positions for various financial institutions, including PNC Bank, Fifth Third Bank and LaSalle Wealth Management. Moore is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, and he is a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor and an Accredited Estate Planner.

The university has a bright future, and I am excited about this new challenge and look forward to the opportunity to serve."

Moore said his goal is to help RU expand and deepen relationships with alumni, friends, and the community to support the university’s mission and vision. He hopes to deepen partnerships with individuals and businesses who share a commitment of supporting and sustaining a Christian university in southeast Michigan.

Moore lives in Novi with his wife Tina. The couple is active in church, the community, and enjoy spending time with three adult daughters, one son-in-law and two "granddogs.”For more information about Rochester University, go to rochesteru.edu.
