Police said the Rochester woman stalked and attacked another woman after falling for her boyfriend.

HAZEL PARK, MI — A Rochester woman is facing charges after she pistol-whipped another woman she was stalking after falling for her boyfriend, according to police.

Jie Yu, 52, was charged with felonious assault, two counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, carrying a concealed weapon, aggravated stalking and using a motor vehicle tracking device. She was placed in jail on a $1 million bond. Her next court date wasn't released.

A 35-year-old Hazel Park woman told investigators she was sitting inside her car in the 90 block of West Shevlin Avenue in Hazel Park at 8:19 a.m. Friday when a DoorDash delivery person came up to her and asked about an address, according to police.

Investigators said Yu kept changing her story during their interviews and that what she was saying wasn't making sense, according to police.

Officers then searched Yu's home and found packaging for a GPS tracking device, according to police.

Investigators spoke to the Hazel Park woman again and found a tracking device on her car, and another tracking device on her boyfriend's car, according to police.

Investigators then again interviewed Yu, who told them this time that she had "developed an infatuation" with the boyfriend after seeing him at a fitness center and began stalking the couple, according to police.

It was unclear at which gym Yu first spotted the couple and how long she had been stalking them for before the pistol-whipping incident.

The couple told investigators they had no connection to Yu, according to police.
