Rochester's Quality of Life Survey Results Are In and Important to Evaluate Says Nancy Salvia

During the first quarter of 2017, the City of Rochester conducted a citizens survey. The response rate was strong with 23.6 % of residents

Rochester - Its where we live work and play! There are so many aspects, of living in Rochester that make it so special, neighborhoods, schools, downtown, special events, trails and so much more!

During the first quarter of 2017, the City of Rochester conducted a citizens survey. The response rate was strong with 23.6 % of residents responding. Two important areas are highlighted here. As we prepare for an election in the fall of 2017, it is more important than ever that we listen to residents and find ways to focus on housing, infrastructure and
93% or more respondents rating the City “excellent” or “good” in the following categories:

  • Quality of life
  • Place to raise a family
  • Image and reputation
  • Feeling of safety during the day
  • Quality of parks
  • Maintenance of public parks and trees
  • Quality of rivers and trails
  • Appearance of Residential Neighborhoods
  • Physical appearance of the downtown area
  • Availability of public library services
  • Law enforcement services
  • Fire protection service

30% or more respondents rated the City as “neutral”, “poor”, or “very poor” in the following categories:

  • Quality of street repair
  • Availability of housing
  • Variety and pricing of housing
  • Current Land use, planning, and zoning
  • Ordinance code enforcement
  • Employment opportunities
  • Availability of mental healthcare
  • Community recognition of diversity
  • Governmental transparency
