Spring on the Farm and New Exhibits at the Rochester Hills Museum
Spring has arrived! Spring was always a special time on the Van Hoosen Farm. Joshua and his helpers were planting crops; the newborn calves were following their mothers and the sweet smells of wild flowers were in the air. The Rochester Hills Museum is celebrating the arrival of spring by inviting visitors to see their newest exhibit and to join them at their annual Spring on the Farm event.

The Progressive Era: Creating Modern America 1900-1917 Exhibit

On Display till Saturday, May 18th

This panel exhibit created by the Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History includes letters, cartoons, pictures, and broadsides that illustrate America’s transformation into a modern, industrial society. During the Progressive Era (1900–1917) a broad-ranging reform movement worked to make government more democratic, to lessen the effects of industrialization, and to regulate business. Guests can view this exhibit and the Museum’s other exhibits on water powered mills and Dr. Bertha Van Hoosen on Fridays and Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free for members of the Rochester Hills Museum. For non-members, admission is $3 for students and seniors and $5 for adults.

Spring on the Farm

The Museum’s annual celebration of spring is back! Admission is $7 for the public and $4 for members of the Rochester Hills Museum. Guests will be able to enjoy a display of Model A and Model T Automobiles, vintage campers and bicycles, a Pioneer Homestead and Playground provided by the Friends of Dinosaur Hill, the Barnyard Express animal show with the cutest baby farm animals, and the opportunity to help “raise a barn” with the Teamwork and Timbers group from the Michigan Barn Preservation Network.
