Morning, everybody! It's me, Dylan Siwicki, your host of the Rochester-Rochester Hills Daily — here to tell you all the most important things happening in town. Enjoy...

First, today's weather:

Comfortable with some sun. High: 81 Low: 62.

Here are the top stories in Rochester-Rochester Hills today:

  1. Stoney Creek Metropark's new off-leash dog area features two areas: one for small dogs and larger dogs to run. The project developed a 10-foot wide asphalt path from the parking lot to the bullpen entryway into the off-leash dog areas to make it accessible to all visitors. Nearly three acres are now available for small dogs specifically. (The Oakland Press)
  2. The Jackson County Animal Shelter helped two kittens get adopted Monday morning after it turning them into celebrities when it asked someone to adopt the "two-headed cat" Friday afternoon. (Michigan Patch)
  3. Two men were arrested Thursday after police said they smashed a car's window and stole the sterling wheel in a Dearborn parking lot. In addition, police believe the two men stole numerous steering wheels across metro Detroit, accounting for much of the rise in steering wheel thefts across the region, police said. (Dearborn Patch)

Dylan Siwicki

About me: I was born and raised on Detroit's Westside, in the hard working blue-collar Polish neighborhood of Warrendale. I'm a Detroit Public School graduate who fought hard to earn my education. My aspiration into journalism came as a young kid, when I began following the corruption scandal of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. My first break in to the journalism world began with the opportunity to work at the Michigan Journal, where I primarily reported on campus and local news throughout the Dearborn community. I eventually worked my way to news editor. So with first-hand experience growing up in a tight-knit neighborhood, I know the importance of delivering news and telling stories that impact local communities. And as a breaking news editor at Patch for Metro Detroit, it's my job to deliver that news. So feel free to contact me about news tips or your own unique experiences at dylan.siwicki@patch.com
