Toyology Store Opens in Rochester Hills

All metro locations will celebrate grand opening with Play Day on Oct. 22-23.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – Premium toy retailer Toyology will open its fourth Metro Detroit location in The Village of Rochester Hills shopping center, 208 N Adams Rd. The store opens Saturday, Oct. 1 in conjunction with the company’s five-year anniversary.

“Rochester Hills is an amazing and growing community that we’re excited to become a part of,” Aric Klar, co-owner and founder of Toyology, said in a press release. “I couldn’t think of a better neighborhood for us to join as we open our fourth location.”

Toyology’s opening strategy for the Rochester Hills store is the same as their past three openings: quickly join the community and meet the new neighbors. Through community outreach such as entrepreneurship workshops in area schools, educator incentives and their Give Back program, Toyology makes efforts to directly impact the lives of those in their communities.

“This is a huge milestone for us, which is why we’re having a ‘Play Day’ in conjunction with the store launch,” said Jon Klar, Aric’s brother and co-owner and founder. Play Day will be the weekend of October 22 and 23 during store hours, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at all Toyology locations: West Bloomfield, Royal Oak, Howell and Rochester Hills. “In addition to meeting our team of ‘toyologists’ and checking out what Toyology has to offer, the event will include toy and gift card baskets and local food and refreshments. All press and public are welcome to join us for the party!”

The Klar brothers have been in the toy business since ages 12 and 10 when they took over a corner of their parents’ pharmacy into the neighborhood hub for trendy toys. After college, with business model in hand, they built on their knack for knowing the next hot toy and opened their first store in West Bloomfield. Fast forward to 2016, and they’re proud to still be at the helm, and growing as they join more communities in the area.

“Reinvesting and expanding here in Metro Detroit is a huge priority for us,” said Aric. “This is where we’re from and we’re dedicated to supporting our local community.”

Toyology operates differently than big box toy sections and from other independent shops in the area: the Klars and their team seek to help customers find the toy that’s right for them - in terms of both product and price, and cater to the needs and interests of the user. Shoppers can find both big brands and local treasures and innovative options.
