Trooper Injured in Collision with Suspected Drunken Driver

Trooper Jacalyn Raab was assisting the Michigan Department of Transportation with a lane closure when her vehicle was rear-ended.

AUBURN HILLS, MI — A Michigan State Police trooper was hospitalized Friday morning after she was injured in a crash with a suspected drunken driver around 3 a.m. on northbound Interstate 75, according to tweets from the MSP's Metro Post.

Trooper Jacalyn Raab, a 29-year veteran of the Metro North Post, was working with the Michigan Department of Transportation to block a lane for construction crews when her patrol vehicle was struck from behind by a white Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 29-year-old Shelby Township man, who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunken diving.

He remains in the Oakland County Jail pending charges, according to the tweets.

Raab sustained a broken wrist and complained of head and neck pain, but is expected to recover.

The northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for about three hours, but are open now.
