Vietnam Vets in Michigan's 8th District Get Special Lapel Pins

A ceremony will be held Tuesday for for Vietnam veterans living in Michigan's 8th Congressional District. Here's how to register for pin.

HOWELL, MI – Vietnam veterans who live in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District will be honored in Howell Tuesday with a special pin authorized by Congress in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

U.S. Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Rochester, is hosting the event that will be held from 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Crystal Gardens Banquet Center, 5768 E Grand River Ave., in Howell.

Other dignitaries expected to include Michigan National Guard Gen. Mike Stone; 47th District state Rep. Hank Vaupel, R-Fowlerville; and Livingston County Commissioner Dave Domas, R-Tyrone Township.

The special lapel pin is available to any veteran who served during those years. Any Vietnam veteran from the 8th District may register for the pin at Bishop’s website. They may confirm their eligibility by checking their ZIP code at this link.

The event is open to 8th District Vietnam War veterans and their families only.

The 8th District covers Ingham and Livingston counties and northern Oakland County, including all or part of the cities of Rochester, Rochester Hills, Clarkston, Lake Orion, Oxford, Fenton, Brighton, Hartland Independence Township, East Lansing, Howell, Lansing, Mason, Okemos and Haslett.
