Woman Attacks Rochester Hills Meijer Cashier After Argument Over Item Limit: Police

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — The Oakland County sheriff's Office is asking for help identifying a woman who they said assaulted a cashier at a Rochester Hills retail store.

Officials said shortly before 6 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the Meijer store located on Market Place Circle in Rochester Hills, a woman began arguing with a cashier after the employee told her she had too many items for the self-scan checkout, officials said.

The woman told the cashier she actually had two separate orders, as one was her daughter's, officials said.

As the woman finished paying for her items, the 55-year-old woman cashier went on break and into the bathroom, officials said.

While inside a bathroom stall, the cashier heard another woman's voice and decided to look through an opening to see who it was, officials said.

That's when officials said the woman from the checkout kicked the locked door stall in, causing it to fall onto the cashier's head. After picking herself up, the cashier saw the woman had left the bathroom, officials said.

Once the cashier walked out of the bathroom, the woman again confronted her, grabbing her by her hair and throwing her to the ground, officials said.

Then the woman and two younger females began repeatedly punching the cashier, before driving away in a late model green Chevrolet Traverse, officials said.

A tuft of the cashier’s hair lying was found on the ground where the assault happened, officials said. The cashier declined treatment at the scene.

Anyone who can identify the woman is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for tips leading to the suspect’s arrest. Tipsters remain anonymous.
