Woman Dies After SUV Crashes Into Woods In Shelby Township: Cops
Police said the woman's SUV veered off the road on northbound Michigan 53, just north of 21 Mile Road.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — A woman was killed Monday after her SUV drove off the road and crashed into a wooden area in Shelby Township, police said.
The 47-year-old Almont woman was driving a Ford Expedition on northbound M-53, north of 21 Mile Road, just after noon when it veered off the highway and crashed in the woods, police said.
The woman was the only person in the SUV and officials found her dead at the crash site. Police closed the highway's northbound lanes for about three hours while they investigated the crash. Detectives are still investigating the cause of the crash.
