2 Nabbed in Attempted Theft of Wheels: Royal Oak Police

ROYAL OAK, MI — Two men were arrested for allegedly trying to steal the wheels from a parked vehicle after police responded to a citizen’s complaint Wednesday, according to the weekly Royal Oak Police Department blotter.

The call came in at 5:06 a.m. after a citizen reported seeing suspicious individuals tampering with a parked vehicle on the 1700 block of Chester Road, according to the information provided by police.

The two men who matched the descriptions given by the caller— later identified as Ali Al Siamer, 26, and Jacob Friedman, 25 — were stopped in a vehicle near the scene of the report, and both had evidence from the scene in their vehicle, police said.

They were arraigned on Thursday in Royal Oak 44th District Court on charges of attempted larceny from an automobile. Bond for each was set at $2,500 cash/10 percent, and they were ordered to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 10.

Breaking and Entering

130 block of N. Vermont Ave. 9-16-16 - 9-23-16, 12:00 p.m. - 8:43 p.m.: Complainant reports returning to his vacant rental property and discovering an unknown suspect(s) had cut and removed copper piping from the basement.

Larceny

3601 W. Thirteen Mile Rd. (Beaumont Hospital), 9-22-16, 5:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Complainant reported while working as a contractor at the hospital, an unknown suspect stole his lunch bag that contained food and prescription medicine.

30852 Woodward Ave. (Walgreens) 9-24-16, 8:15 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.: Complainant reports leaving his cellphone at the store and having it stolen by an unknown suspect.

1600 block of E. Fourth St. 9-24-16, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Complainant reports a political candidate lawn sign was stolen from his lawn by unknown suspect(s).

Larceny from an Automobile

8450 W. Ten Mile Rd. (Detroit Zoo), 9-26-16, 9:40 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.: Complainant reported returning to the parking structure to discover her parked 2005 Toyota 4 Runner had a broken front passenger side window, and her purse, containing cash and identification was stolen by an unknown suspect(s).

Malicious Destruction of Property

1800 block of W. Farnum Ave. 9-27-16 – 9-28-16, 11:00 p.m. – 9:37 a.m.: Complainant reports he parked his Chrysler Pacifica in his driveway and upon returning to it he discovered an unknown suspect(s) had damaged the windshield wipers and exterior mirrors.
