2-Year-Old Amur Tiger Joins Detroit Zoo

A 2-year-old Amur tiger has joined the Devereaux Tiger Forest habitat at the Detroit Zoo, officials said Tuesday.

Darya, who was born at the St. Louis Zoo, joins fellow Amur tigers Nikolai and Ameliya at the Detroit Zoo, officials said.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A 2-year-old Amur tiger has joined the Devereaux Tiger Forest habitat at the Detroit Zoo, officials said Tuesday.

Darya, who was born at the St. Louis Zoo, joins fellow Amur tigers Nikolai and Ameliya at the Detroit Zoo, officials said.

She was transferred to Detroit through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan, which is a program that helps ensure healthy, genetically diverse animal populations in human care.

Zoo officials described Darya as playful, energetic and curious, and is often among the first to explore new spaces or splash in the water.
