The Daily Meal, a New York-based foodie blog, recently named Royal Oak second-best town for trick-or-treating in country, citing the Spooktacular as a major reason.
“We are very happy to make this ‘boos who’ list,” Judy Davids, community engagement specialist, said in a statement after learning of the accolades handed to the city from states away. “Sometimes lists like these sound kind of corny until you look at the criteria. The Daily Meal was looking for safe, walkable family-friendly towns with the best longstanding Halloween traditions. We are proud to identify with being all of those things.”
Also this weekend, the Detroit Zoo continues its annual “Zoo Boo” Friday through Sunday. It features a festively decorated half-mile trick-or-treat trail through the front of the Zoo. Elaborate pumpkin displays will line the treat trail, where greeters will pass out goodies to costume-clad children at treat stations along the route.
