More headaches are coming for drivers who use Interstate 696 in Oakland County.
Crews closed the westbound Interstate 696 ramp to Woodward Avenue Monday morning.
On Thursday, crews will also close the Woodward Avenue ramp to westbound Interstate 696.
Officials said both ramps will stay closed until August.
Drivers moving west should aim to get off the freeway at Southfield Road. If they miss that exit, the next opportunity is Orchard Lake Road.
There is some good news, however. Starting Thursday, crews will open the northbound and southbound Interstate 75 ramps to westbound Interstate 696.
But the westbound Interstate 696 ramps to northbound and southbound Interstate 75 will remain closed until mid-August.
Crews are rebuilding Interstate 696 between Lasher and Dequindre roads. Crews will continue rebuilding Interstate 696 in 2026, with the bulk between Interstate 75 and Dequindre Road happening in 2027. That work includes rebuilding the roadway, bridge improvements and drainage structures.
