Duggan's Irish Pub brawl at Dream Cruise leaves 8 arrested (fox2detroit.com) — Royal Oak Police say eight people were arrested after a large brawl at Duggan's Irish Pub during this year's Woodward Dream Cruise, with investigators still reviewing extensive video to determine charges. Officers also handled Dream Cruise-related arrests and are investigating a stolen 1965 Chevy Corvette taken Saturday morning near Starr Road and Hampton Boulevard.

Royal Oak Public Library bans shopping carts, large bags in response to bedbugs (cbsnews.com) — If you're heading to the Royal Oak Public Library, you'll now have to leave large bags and shopping carts outside as staff work to prevent another bedbug outbreak. After multiple brief closures and extensive furniture treatments this summer, the library has tightened its bag policy and is asking anyone who suspects they have bedbugs to stay home for public health.

Upton Elementary's student body is changing, with 18 multiracial students enrolled in 2024-25 and Royal Oak High School leading the district in multiracial enrollment.
