• Missing MI Hiker Found Alive On Isle Royale: Report (patch.com) — Royal Oak residents can breathe easier after 70-year-old resident Craig Berg, missing for more than a week while hiking solo on Isle Royale, was found alive and alert by fellow backpackers. National Park Service crews, aided by multiple Michigan and regional agencies using aircraft, drones, and ground searches, located him after he failed to return home on a scheduled ferry.
   

• Ganser debut new single "Futuretripping" (northerntransmissions.com) — Chicago post-punk band Ganser will bring their new single "Futuretripping" and their acclaimed Animal Hospital material to Royal Oak Music Theatre on September 15, supporting Bikini Kill. The group describes the track as exploring distorted senses of time and restless anticipation, and their tour offers local fans a chance to see them just days after the single's release.
   

• 500 snails mailed to Tahiti to reclaim their natural habitat (popsci.com subscription) — Work at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak is helping send 500 rare Partula snails back to their native Tahitian habitat as part of a global recovery effort. Zoo staff carefully ship and prepare the snails, marking each shell for future monitoring, and say long-term success will mean self-sustaining wild populations in protected, healthy ecosystems.
