• Royal Oak library will be closed this weekend (theoaklandpress.com) — Royal Oak residents should plan around the Public Library's full closure from Friday, Oct. 9 through Monday, Oct. 12 while major energy-efficient heating and cooling upgrades are installed. Return boxes will be locked, but there are no late fees, and regular hours resume Tuesday, Oct. 13. Another short closure is expected later this fall to finish the project.
• See which Royal Oak restaurants failed inspections (bnd.com) — Several Royal Oak restaurants, including IHOP, Jet's Pizza, Jim Brady's Detroit, Little Brothers Burgers, Pizzeria Biga, and Falafel King, recently received health violations ranging from mold-like growth to improper food temperatures. Many issues have since been corrected, but residents can review full Oakland County inspection reports online to check current conditions before deciding where to eat.
• Stand Atlantic gear up for album release and fall shows with new single 'NEXT2U' (melodicmag.com) — Stand Atlantic will bring their GODBREATH tour to Royal Oak Music Theatre on December 9, supporting Story of the Year and Silverstein. Local fans can hear their new single "NEXT2U" and other tracks from the upcoming album live, with tickets available online for the band's only listed Michigan stop.
