The Women’s Urology Center at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak will offer adult women who are living with chronic pelvic pain an individualized, comprehensive, five-day retreat to help alleviate symptoms. Participants will receive one-on-one clinical evaluation with Beaumont experts who specialize in chronic pelvic pain, a treatment plan and several daily interventions to help ease their symptoms.
“We have found that taking a comprehensive approach is most effective in alleviating chronic pelvic pain symptoms,” says Kenneth Peters, M.D., director, Women’s Urology Center. “Women who attend the five-day retreat will find we have created a private and comfortable place for them to go where people who care will listen, evaluate their condition and provide a variety of treatment interventions.”
The treatment program is for women over 18 years of age with any of the following:
- pelvic pain not associated with periods
- pelvic pain for more than three months
- pain related to pelvic floor dysfunction (tightness of the muscles)
- pelvic pain that may be accompanied by urinary urge or frequency
