Gilda's Club Metro Detroit Elects New Members to Board of Directors

is pleased to announce that Tom Callan was recently elected as the president of the board of directors. Callan will serve a two-year term. Also elected to serve as board of directors were Ellen Sherman, Lillian Schostak and Kevin Zezula. All will serve a three-year term.

Callan is a managing director of UHY Advisors MI, Inc. He is a member of the executive committee of the Michigan office and is the managing partner at the Farmington Hills office. Callan is also a partner with UHY LLP, a licensed CPA firm. He is a licensed CPA in the states of Michigan and Georgia. He earned a Bachelor degree in accounting and business administration from Walsh College in Troy. Callan joined the board of directors at Gilda's Club Metro Detroit in 2005. He recently served as the chair of the Finance Committee of the board. Callan replaces Stefany Lester Freeman as president. He lives in Royal Oak with his wife, Pam, and four children.

Ellen Sherman became familiar with Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit through her mother, Janet Jaffe, who served as a founding board member until her death from ovarian cancer. The Bloomfield Hills resident also serves on the Hebrew Free Loan executive committee and the Fisher Foundation Next Generation workgroup. Sherman and her husband, David, have two children.

Lillian Schostak is a community philanthropist and also a long-time supporter of Gilda’s Club through the Schostak Brothers & Company corporate team that participates every year at the Gilda’s Family Walk & Health Fair, the largest fundraiser hosted annually by Gilda’s Club. Schostak resides in Huntington Woods with her husband, Mark, and children.

Kevin Zezula brings experience in sales and financial services to Gilda's Club. The Royal Oak resident is a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and is also active with St. Mary’s Catholic School Board and Athletic Board and the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce ambassador committee. Zezula and his wife, Katie, have three children.
