Arsonist's Grass Fire Out When Help Arrives: Police
A 39-year-old Royal Oak man deliberately set a patch of grass on fire, according to police.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A 39-year-old Royal Oak man was arrested earlier this month for fourth-degree arson after authorities received a 911call alleging he had set the grass in frot of a residence on fire with with a lighter.
When officers arrived at the scene on the 300 block of W. Parent about 12:59 p.m. on July 7, the fire was already out, according to the weekly police blotter released by the Royal Oak Police Department.
An area of grass between the sidewalk easement and curb, about 8-feet b10-feet, was burned, police said.

Fourth-degree arson is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
