Attorney Asks for More Time for Royal Oak Resident Charged in Fatal I-75 Crash
Man, 24, accused of driving under the influence, causing death of 10-year-old Eastpointe girl.

(Originally posted on Dec. 7, 2016) ROYAL OAK, MI — The attorney representing 26-year-old Mark Anthony Silva, who is accused of drunken driving in a fatal crash that killed a 10-year-old Eastpointe girl in September, asked a 44th District Court judge Friday to give him more time to prepare his client's defense, The Royal Oak Review reported.
Defense attorney Marie Garian asked 44th District Court Judge Derek Meinecke to postpone Silva's probable cause hearing while she waits for additional documents from the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. Silva pleaded not guilty to one count operating under the influence causing death and three counts of operating under the influence causing incapacitating injury during his Nov. 22 arraignment.
Silva was allegedly drunk on Sept. 16 when he rear-ended a car in which the girl was a passenger. She died at a nearby hospital.
