Beaumont Suspends 370 Workers For Missing Vaccine Requirement
The health system announced in July that workers had until Oct. 18 to meet the deadline.
ROYAL OAK, MI — Beaumont Hospital suspended 370 workers for not getting the COVID-19 vaccine by the hospital's deadline, Crain’s Detroit Business first reported Thursday.
Another 70 workers voluntarily resigned from the Southfield-based health company because they did not want to get the vaccine.
Beaumont announced in July that workers, including employees, volunteers and providers who practice or work at Beaumont facilities had until Oct. 18 to get the shot.

The suspended workers now have until Nov. 16 to meet the requirement or they will be fired from the health system.

"We hope that those 370 employees will choose to get vaccinated and return to work soon," Beaumont said. "If they choose to not meet our vaccine requirements by Nov. 16, their employment will be terminated."
The 370 suspended Beaumont workers constitutes roughly 1% of the health system's total workforce, which is 33,000.
The Henry Ford Health System said recently that approximately 400 of its workers quit over its own vaccine mandate.
The federal government announced a vaccine mandate in September for hospital and healthcare facilities along with any business that employs more than 100 people.
